So let's begin with an easy but essential fold!

The presidential fold or square fold

How to fold pocket square presidential, the pocket square presidential fold is a simple fold, it works for both casual and formal occasions and it works particularly well with our lightweight pocket squares.

How to fold a pocket square, the presidential fold!
For this fold we are first going to lay the flat pocket square out on a level surface such as a table.
Lay the pocket square out on a flat surface
We then need to fold the pocket square in half, making the fold as neat and even as possible.
Fold the pocket square in half giving an even fold.
Now fold the pocket square back up and over on itself, leaving a slim ridge, measuring the height of the jacket pocket so that the hanky sits above the pocket line as desired.
Fold the pocket square back over on itself to the top

And that's it, it's as simple as 1,2,3 this fold! So there's nothing holding you back from wearing pocket squares!

The One Point Fold!

How to fold a pocket, tie point matching fold masterclass! If you're trying to work out how to make a pocket square out of a tie point, then this ones for you!

It's a nice simple fold, suitable for work meetings, and casual sports jackets too, it works really well with our wedding pocket squares as the point matches that of the tie when done right.
How to fold a pocket square the one point fold!
Firstly we need to lay the pocket square out in a diamond layout (spun 45 degrees).
Lay the pocket square out in a diamond flat out on a flat surface.
We then need to fold the pocket square in half as neatly as possible.
Fold the pocket square in half as neatly as possible.
And now take the pocket square and fold the right corner over the top just past the middle point as below.
Fold the right corner over the top just past the mid point.
And then fold the left side over to create an "open envelope" style fold.
Now fold the left corner back over to create an "open envelope" fold.

You can now flip the fold over, holding it together and slide the assembly into the pocket!

Ok so those are two really great staple folds, perfect for anyone to start out wearing pocket squares, so lets try something a bit more fancy!

The Winged Puff Fold!

A casual fold, this one takes some practice to get right, but when you do it will become a firm favorite! It works really well with our events range pocket squares!

Again we need to take the pocket square and sit it on a flat surface in a diamond shape.
Lay the pocket square flat in a diamond shape.
And in a single move fold the pocket square in half on itself.
Fold the pocket square in half in one single fold.
Now take the outer wings and fold the left and right sides back towards the middle point of the pocket hanky as below.
Fold the wings of the pocket square back to the mid point of the hanky
Now take the new outer wings on there sides as below and fold them in towards the middle, leaving one side unfolded along the opening of the pocket square.
Fold three outside wings back into the center of the pocket square.

You can slide this assembly into the pocket leaving the open end as a beautiful detail.

The Three Point Fold!

Try the tree point fold with our navy blue cotton pocket square and navy tie set!

How to fold a three point fold pocket square
Firstly place the pocket square on a flat surface in a diamond orientation.
Place the pocket square on a flat surface in a diamond shape.
Now fold the pocket square over in half, but take it past the half way point, this will make the first two peaks of the fold.
Fold the pocket square past the half way point to form the first peak
We now need to take the right hand corner and fold it over the top to form the third peak.
Fold the right hand corner over the top to create the third peak.
Now fold the right hand side over to create a border to the assembly to allow it to slide into your pocket!
Now fold the left side to form a border to allow the pocket square to sit in the pocket

You can now turn the assembly around and slide it into your chest pocket!

We've reached the half way point, and you now have everything you need to step out in style with four of our favorite folds! And up next we've got some advanced folds for you to start trying out!

Three Stairs Pocket Square!

The three stairs pocket square fold is a difficult but rewarding fold to master, when you do you will find yourself with a great stand out look, so let's begin!

How to fold a three stairs pocket square fold
Set the pocket square out on a flat surface in a diamond orientation, on the reverse side (if your pocket square isn't two sided.
Set the pocket square face down on a flat surface.
Form stair one by taking the bottom corner and folding the pocket square up to form a perfect half.
Fold the pocket square in half upwards to form a perfect half.
Now take the folded corner and take it back down, but leaving an edge folded at the half way line.
Fold the corner back down leaving a ledge folded at the half way line. 
And take the corner back up to create a fold at the half way point of the newly formed ledge.
Now make a second fold at the half way point of the newly formed ledge.
And now bring the fold back down to the top point of the ledge.
Now fold the edge back down to form a crease at the top edge of the ledge.
And now fold the edge back up, again half way up the top ledge of the ridges we are forming.
Now fold the edge back up to half way up the upper ledge.

Now being careful to hold the assembly together flip the whole assembly over.

Top Tip you might find it useful to use a hair clip to hold the assembly in place!

Now flip the whole assembly over.
Now fold the assembly exactly in half along the mid line.
Now fold the assembly in half along it's mid line

And rotate the folded pocket square through 90 degrees to the orientation showed below.

And lastly fold the right hand corner back over the top 
Lastly fold the right hand edge back over the top.

This should leave you with three beautifully defined stairs to tuck into your jacket pocket!

 

Once you master this advanced fold you will find it fun to play around to see what styles you can achieve from the base setup.

A Floral Puff Fold!

Here's a little twist on the traditional puff fold, with a nice floral center to brighten up your day, this is a stunning casual fold, perfect for weddings! We love trying these with our large patterned pocket hankies!

Take the pocket square and lay it flat on a level surface, and pinch the center.
Lay the pocket square flat and pinch it at the center.
Lift the pocket square up keeping the center pinched at the middle of the square.
Lift the pocket square up from the center point.
Gather the center of the pocket square with your other hand (this is known as the supporting hand) to group the center and slide it down so that the sides splay outwards, this creates the petals.
Slide your other hand down so the sides splay outwards creating the petals
Now fold the top of the gather down under your thumb of the supporting hand. This will create the center of the flower.
Now fold the top of the gather down under the thumb of the supporting hand.
Now keeping the folds in place (tip you can use the hair slide clip here to help you if you need) bring the petals back up to surround the flowers center into the supporting hand.
Now bring the flowers petals up to surround the flowers center.
You can now spend some time arranging the petals around by pulling them up and outwards at the same time from the supporting hand to create a series of span out petals.
Arrange the edges to create a series of petals (size to your desired look)

You can now tuck this into your pocket and arrange the petal size to create your desired look.

A Four Point Tulip!

The four point tulip is a twist on the flower, giving you a simple three point casual pocket square fold.

Lay the pocket square down flat on a table and pinch it at the very center.
Lay the pocket square down flat on a table and pinch the center.
Lift the pocket square to create a "gather" at the center of the fold, slide the second hand half way down the fold to create a supporting hand to help you when creating the folds.
Lift the pocket square to create a "gather" at the center of the fold.
Fold the gather down into the thumb of the supporting hand.

Bring the outside edges of the pocket square back up through the supporting hand keeping them close to the center of the flower.

Bring the petals up through the center of the supporting hand to create petals.

Now bring the petals up above the center fold over keeping them nice and central o the flower, to keep the tulips shape.

Bring the flowers up above the center folds of the flower to form the petals.

You can now slide the flower into your suit or jacket pocket and hopefully you've achieved a nice tulip shape?

Pocket Square Fold Rose!

Ok lets wrap things up with our last of our eight favourite folds, and put a spring in your step with this lovely little flower bud, or pocket square fold rose design fold, perfect for wedding suits and the wedding breakfast!

Lay the pocket square out on a flat surface such as a table and pinch the very center.

Lay the pocket square out on the center of a table and pinch the very center.

Lift the square up to form a gather at the center of the pocket square and slide a supporting hand half way down to hold it in place.

Slide a supporting hand down the gather with your supporting hand.

Take the gather and fold it under the thumb of the supporting hand.

Take the gather and fold it under the thumb of the supporting hand.

Pull the edges of the pocket square up through the supporting had, but leave enough to expose the center of the flower.

Pull the leaves up through the supporting hand, leaving the flower exposed.
